An API call is the action of sending a request containing data or instruction to perform a specifc task, and then receiving a response (i.e. update) on the sent request.
Secure File Transfer Protocol (SFTP) is a standard network protocol used for the transfer of files. It provides remote file system management functionality, allowing applications to resume interrupted file transfers, lists the contents of remote directories, and deletes remote files. SSH2 encryption is used to authenticate and establish secure channels between networked hosts.
While the NTP supports both types of integration, it is highly recommended for you to integrate with the NTP via API.
The time taken to successfully integrate to the NTP varies from company to company, depending on capability and efficiency. Most companies take 6-8 weeks to successfully integrate to the NTP.
Yes, as part of the technical onboarding process, you will be required to integrate to the NTP's testing environment first to carry out system testing with mock data before integrating to the NTP, where you will then be able to carry out live transactions.
System Connectivity (SFTP/API) is recommended for companies with a high volume of, and regular transactions with the NTP. However, you will still be able to share documents via the web portal if you are not integrated via any of the system connectivity options.
You can reach out to the NTP team at NTP_Operations@customs.gov.sg to arrange a session with the NTP technical team to determine your business’ suitability for System Connectivity.
Yes, you will receive a briefing and reference materials detailing all stages of the integration. Additionally, the NTP Technical Onboarding team will provide remote support to guide you through the process. If you would require on-site assistance, please contact the NTP Helpdesk.
